Challenging Vermont Summit Hike & Local Food Sampler
Join me on a rugged Vermont adventure as we climb to a rocky summit with spectacular views! We'll sample local cheeses, jams and more before heading back down.
THIS IS A CHALLENGING HIKE. Round trip is approximately 5.5 miles total with over 2,000 feet elevation gain. Hiking boots or shoes are required and your feet will likely be wet for a short time.
After crossing a mountain stream (which keeps out the less adventurous!) we will hike up one of the tall peaks along the Green Mountains' famous Monroe Skyline, where you can expect outstanding views of the Champlain Valley, New York's Adirondack Mountains and even the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The trail becomes gradually steeper and more challenging toward the summit, culminating in a rocky "scramble" that exemplifies mountain climbing in Vermont. On the way we'll talk about the history, flora and fauna that make Vermont a special place.
After reaching the summit we'll take a well-deserved break and sample some favorite local foods, including cheeses, jams and meats (different dietary preferences welcome).
We'll descend back to the cool shade of the forest before the heat of the day kicks in. Before departing make sure to ask for recommendations on local swimming holes, restaurants and more!
I hope you'll join me for this challenging yet beautiful Vermont hike.
